Ribbons and fashion
designers
Holidays can be tedious at times especially having teenagers who need to be entertained
all the time. A few years ago we were on our game farm and had my daughter and a few of
her friends over for a ten day vacation. They were studying fashion design at the time.
On the third day I pulled out a box of Ribbons I need to look at for a possible new range.
Being interested in Ribbons for gift packaging the thought did not cross my mind that the
children might be interested in Ribbons for the fashion world. Soon they were all huddled
over the box oohing and aahing over the range of Ribbons.
As they were browsing the box an idea came about. A challenge was born. Each of them had
to come up with a design with Ribbons. They could use Satin, Organza, Poly or Wired edge
Ribbons. Visit our Ribbons page for a selection of Ribbons.
Allen sponsored a bottle of red wine for a most creative prize and in the process bought
us some quiet time.
Drawings of designs in Ribbons was scattered all over the place. Amongst them were designs
of shoes with Organza Ribbons tied in bows, hair pieces with wired Ribbons, fabric made
with satin Ribbons weave together and dressed decorated with Ribbons
in all ways thinkable. Having their creative juices flowing they were in their element.
Talking to one another, discussing Ribbons and sharing ideas kept them busy until late
that night. One of them even came up with a design to redecorate the house with a Ribbons
theme. Designing table clothes using Satin Ribbons, using Organza ribbons for curtains and
Wired ribbons for tie backs. Vases were dressed up in Ribbons and the pots with my herb
selection got little Ribbons. No detail was spared, even the towels was neatly rolled tied
with Ribbons.
We were woken the next morning with breakfast in order to judge the designs. It was so
difficult to choose between the creativity. To us it was clear that they all would become
famous fashion designers on day.
Our winning choice in the end was for the wedding dress decorated with Organza ribbons
tied in bows. Second runner up was for the sheath evening dress decorated with Wired
ribbons slanting from the left shoulder to the floor.
Visit our Ribbons page for a selection of Wired Ribbons in
pinstripe, stars or plain Organza designs.
The bottle of Red wine was handed over and of course I tied bright red and gold pinstripe
Ribbons around it.
Holidays in the bush is definitely for the ones wanting to do nothing or in the event of
taking youngsters with you a load of creativity in order to entertain the Computer and TV
driven youth of today.
Gathering things and hard work can never make up for memories we acquire with our loved
ones. Take time off and spend it with your loved ones in ways they will never forget.
No man on his death bed had ever looked back at all the hours he has worked, but instead
have regrets of the times he has missed out on. Make a list of the things you would like
to be remembered by and start by creating those memories today.
