Spring Cleaning and
Gift Boxes
I have friend who is gift boxes mad. She is one of those ultra
organized people I aspire to. This year I think she took spring cleaning and gift boxes a
bit too far, or maybe that is the way to do it. Im sharing this story firstly
because I think it is worth the read and secondly to hear your opinion.

Sandra started by choosing a colour scheme for each rooms gift boxes and planned
very carefully the amount of each size gift boxes she will need.
She started with her cupboard. All her shoes are now neatly stacked in PVC or transparent
gift boxes. Square gift boxes were made to fit into her shelves with underwear sorted
according to colour and type. Her winter clothes are now all sorted according to scarves,
jerseys, tops etc to neatly fit in the top of her cupboard with neat labels added for easy
access.
She uncluttered her make up drawer with gift boxes neatly
aligned keeping hairpins, ear buds, cotton wool, nail polish, eye shadow etc apart.
For her husbands cupboard she used Aluminium tins gift
boxes to tidy belts, socks, underpants etc. His shoes are stacked in PVC gift boxes.
Personally I hope for his sake he keeps it tidy.
The transformation I liked the most is her study. I made gift boxes for her with drawers.
Once these gift boxes are stacked they take up very little space, but you can store a lot
of paraphernalia in them.

your gift boxes to look like.
With labels on her gift boxes drawers she now had a well organized scrap booking station.
Paper, ribbons, embellishments and other tools are stored according to type. She used the
same gift boxes drawer system, only in a different colour for all her sewing equipment,
sorting patterns, material, Vilene, buttons and cotton. Her third row of gift boxes with
drawers in a third colour contains all her office equipment. Paper, files, staplers etc
are store and sorted for easy access.
On three shelves erected around the top of her study, she has a row of gift boxes covered
in floras with all her favorite magazines. She just cant seem to throw away
anything. In all her organized madness she is also a gatherer of note.
In her linen cupboard she used gift boxes to sort her pillow
case, dainty crochet doilies, sheets, towels and tablecloths. All these boxes are lined
with tissue paper that she prepared with aromatic oils to set of a lovely fragrance when
you open them.
Aluminium tins are used in the kitchen to keep flower, rice and other foodstuff fresh and
tidy. She decorated Aluminium tins as sugar, tea and coffee holders. To add to the
ambiance the used round Aluminium tins on her counter for utensils, knifes, forks and
spoons.
Her store room looks like a show room with gift boxes in all different shapes and sizes to
store odds and ends Im sure she will never use again, but just have to keep for one
day.
One day she said with a twinkle in her eye, she wants to organize her husbands
garage. Somehow I dont think it will be soon.
